Treatment Details
The 2940 nm Er laser targets water within the skin to precisely remove controlled areas of surface tissue. Fractional delivery creates microscopic treatment columns while leaving surrounding skin untreated, allowing resurfacing intensity to be adjusted to your concern and recovery preferences.
Treatment Sensation
Expect warmth, prickling or stinging during treatment, with stronger resurfacing settings feeling more intense. Your practitioner will discuss appropriate comfort measures before treatment.
After Treatment
Redness, warmth, swelling, dryness and peeling are expected. Visible peeling commonly develops over several days, while stronger resurfacing may take around a week or longer to settle. Follow your aftercare closely, avoid heat, strenuous exercise and irritating skincare while healing, and protect the treated skin carefully from sun exposure. We can recommend skin care products.

Suitability is assessed individually. Why Choose Our Approach?
Er and CO₂ are both established ablative resurfacing lasers, but they interact with skin differently. Er is absorbed more strongly by water and creates less residual thermal injury, allowing highly controlled resurfacing with typically faster recovery and less swelling than CO₂. CO₂ may be preferred when deeper thermal remodelling is the priority, so suitability depends on the concern, desired result and acceptable recovery time. Erbium resurfacing can feel warm, prickly or stingy, and stronger settings generally feel more intense. Comfort measures can be used where appropriate, and we will explain what to expect before beginning.
Expect visible redness and a dry or peeling phase rather than completely normal-looking skin immediately afterwards. Lighter treatments may settle within several days, while stronger resurfacing can require around a week or longer before the surface has healed. Recovery varies with treatment depth and individual skin response.
It depends on what we are treating and how deeply we resurface. Some people may choose a single treatment, while concerns such as acne scarring or more established texture changes often benefit from a series with time for the skin to heal between sessions.
It may improve selected atrophic acne scars by resurfacing uneven surface tissue and stimulating remodelling beneath. Acne scars vary considerably in type and depth, so deeper or more complex scarring may require a different or combined treatment approach.
We have a specific pigmentation treatment! We will assess your skin at the time of your consultation.
Avoid tanning and significant sun exposure for at least two weeks beforehand and do not use fake or spray tan on the treatment area. We may also ask you to temporarily change irritating or active skincare. Tell us about medications, recent skin treatments and any history of cold sores before your appointment.
Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat and heavy sweating while the skin is in its initial healing phase. Your practitioner will let you know when you can return to your usual routine based on the depth of your treatment.
Flying is generally possible, but it is worth planning around the visible redness and peeling phase. If you are travelling soon after treatment, discuss it with us beforehand so aftercare, dryness and sun exposure can be considered.
