Facial Capillary & Redness Laser Removal
Facial redness and broken capillaries can be frustrating. Origin Skin can help identify contributing factors, use non-invasive advanced vascular laser and IPL/BBL technology for removal, and help improve flushing management, uneven skin tone, visible redness and blemished skin.
What are Facial Capillaries?
Facial capillaries, also called telangiectasia or broken capillaries, are small widened blood vessels visible close to the skin’s surface. They often appear around the nose, cheeks and chin as fine red, blue or purple lines.
Facial redness may originate from visible vessels, flushing, rosacea or another skin concern. At Origin Skin, Nd:YAG laser may be used for larger, more prominent or isolated vessels, while IPL/BBL may be used for more diffuse redness. The most appropriate approach depends on the type and pattern of redness being treated. These treatments may reduce visible vessels and associated redness, but they do not diagnose or cure rosacea, and not every form of redness will respond to laser.
Common Causes & Contributing Factors
Genetics & Skin Type
Family history and individual skin characteristics can influence how easily facial vessels develop, show or persist.
Sun Exposure
UV exposure can affect the skin and small blood vessels, contributing to persistent redness and visible capillaries.
Rosacea & Repeated Flushing
Repeated flushing and vascular changes associated with rosacea can make facial vessels more visible.
Ageing & Environment
Changes in the skin, temperature extremes, wind and repeated irritation may make facial vessels easier to see.
Expectations & Recovery
Appointment Length
Generally 15-30 mins depending on the number, size and location of the vessels being treated.
Treatment Details
During the treatment, the beam from laser precisely targets the small capillaries on face and makes them collapse and coagulate. The collapsed capillaries then will be removed gradually by body’s immune system.
Treatment Sensation
Brief laser or IPL/BBL pulses may feel warm, prickly or like a light snapping sensation. Comfort varies by treatment area, vessel and the technology being used.
After Treatment
Downtime includes mild redness and sensitivity for up to 24 hrs. You may need to avoid heat, strenuous exercise, direct sun and irritating skincare for the period advised. Daily sunscreen is important. We provide written aftercare instructions and remain available if you have questions during recovery. Where appropriate, we can also recommend handpicked cosmeceutical products to support your skin and complement your in-clinic treatment.
Results & Sessions
Treated vessels may darken before gradually fading as the body clears them, with a visible reduction in vein appearance after 8-12 weeks. Multiple sessions may be required for the optimal result and maintenance sessions are usually performed few times a year to keep the skin tone even. Most clients need 2-3 sessions for optimal results depending on extent and severity of veins. Complimentary follow-up and review appointments are available to assess your progress. Because genetics and individual skin characteristics can continue to influence vessel development, ongoing maintenance treatments may be needed to help manage new vessels and redness over time.
Who is Suitable for this Treatment?
This treatment may be suitable for you if you:
☑ Have visible facial capillaries around the nose, cheeks or chin
☑ Have selected red, blue or purple facial vessels
☑ Have redness partly caused by visible blood vessels
☑ Have rosacea-related visible vessels you would like assessed
☑ Ongoing maintenance may be needed, particularly where genetics, skin type or rosacea contribute to recurring redness and visible vessels.
☑ Would benefit from support identifying possible contributing factors, creating a personalised skincare plan, including sun-protection advice, and adjunctive treatments suggestions such as LED Light Therapy.
Suitability is assessed individually. Treatment may be delayed or unsuitable where the skin is actively inflamed, infected, broken or recently tanned, or where medicines, health conditions or the cause of redness require further review. New, unexplained or changing facial redness should be medically assessed before cosmetic treatment.
Why Choose Our Approach?
Origin Skin combines Fotona Nd laser and IPL/BBL technology with qualified, experienced practitioners and an evidence-led approach. Laser may be used for larger, more prominent or isolated vessels, while IPL/BBL may be used for more diffuse redness, depending on your individual presentation. Rosacea is a chronic condition with no scientifically established cure, so we do not promise to cure it or suggest that laser or IPL/BBL can treat every form of facial redness. We respect real, everyday people and do not rely on unrealistic beauty promises or false hope. Instead, we carefully assess your skin and clearly explain what treatment may improve, what it cannot treat, likely sessions, possible maintenance and any relevant limitations or risks before you decide.
Our approach is guided by genuine care and honest advice, without pressure to proceed. You are welcome to ask questions, understand your options and read our Google reviews to see how clients describe their experience of our care, communication and clinic environment. Many speak about feeling listened to, comfortable and reassured, helping you make an informed decision about what is best for you and your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most clients describe the sensation as mild and tolerable during treatment. Some people compare it to the feeling of a small rubber band gently snapping against the skin. Cooling methods are used throughout the procedure to help maximise comfort and protect the surrounding skin.
No. Rosacea is a long-term condition, but laser treatment may reduce visible vessels and some persistent redness. Results from treated vessels may last for several years, while skincare, sun protection, trigger management and occasional maintenance treatment may help keep vascular symptoms reduced over time. Where genetics and skin type contribute to visible vessels and redness, ongoing maintenance may be needed as part of long-term management.
Some small, defined vessels may improve after one treatment. Multiple vessels, broader redness or deeper vessels may need a course of treatments. Your response and any future maintenance needs will vary. For clients with an ongoing genetic or skin-type tendency to develop visible vessels, maintenance sessions may also be recommended over time
Treated vessels that have successfully closed do not generally reappear, although new vessels can develop because the underlying tendency towards rosacea, flushing or sun-related vascular change may remain. Genetics and individual skin characteristics can continue to influence the development of new vessels, so some clients may benefit from ongoing maintenance. Results may last for several years, and maintenance treatment can be used when needed to keep visible vessels and redness reduced. For many people, this sustained improvement can help them feel more comfortable in their skin.
Not every type of facial redness responds to vascular laser, but another treatment may be more appropriate for your concern. Your practitioner will professionally assess your skin, explain what appears to be contributing to the redness and recommend the most suitable treatment option.
Suitability is assessed individually. Skin type, natural pigmentation, recent tanning and the vessel’s colour and depth can affect the appropriate laser settings and the risk of pigment changes. Your practitioner will professionally advise whether this treatment or another approach is most suitable for your skin and the results you want.
Fotona Nd laser sends controlled light energy into the selected vessel. Haemoglobin within the blood absorbs this energy and converts it into heat, causing the vessel walls to close. The body then gradually clears the treated vessel, making it less visible. Carefully selected settings and cooling methods help protect the surrounding skin during treatment.
IPL/BBL uses pulses of light that are absorbed by pigment in visible blood vessels, heating and closing the targeted vessels so they can gradually fade from view.Yes. Published clinical studies and reviews support long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd laser treatment for selected facial capillaries, telangiectasia and rosacea-related visible vessels. Research has reported visible improvement across a range of treatment courses, although results depend on the vessel type, treatment settings, skin type and individual response.
