Under Eye / Peri-Orbital Vein Laser Removal
Visible veins under the eyes can leave you feeling self-conscious, but there is a solution. Origin Skin uses advanced long-pulsed vascular laser treatment to safely target prominent veins around the eyes and restore skin tone uniformity in the eye area in a single session.
What are under eye Peri-Orbital Veins?
Peri-orbital veins are visible veins around the eyes, commonly appearing beneath the eyes, around the outer eye area or near the temples. They often appear as blue, purple or green lines beneath the skin.
These veins are part of the normal vascular system and can be more noticeable because the skin around the eyes is naturally thin. Some people have visible eye veins from a young age, while others notice them becoming more prominent over time. When these veins are raised or prominent, they can be difficult to cover with makeup and may contribute to a tired-looking appearance. Reducing their visibility may help the under-eye area appear brighter and less tired.
Common Causes & Contributing Factors
Genetics
Visible eye veins can run in families, with some people naturally having more prominent vessels around the eyes.
Thin or Fair Skin
The naturally thin skin around the eyes can make underlying blue, purple or green veins easier to see, particularly through fair or translucent skin.
Ageing & Skin Changes
Skin can become thinner with age, making veins that were previously less noticeable appear more prominent.
Individual Anatomy
The size, depth and position of veins differ from person to person and can influence how visible they are around the eyes.
Expectations & Recovery
Appointment Length
Generally 15-30 mins depending on the number, size and location of the vessels being treated.
Treatment Details
During the treatment, the beam from the long-pulsed Nd:YAG vascular laser precisely targets the small capillaries on face and makes them collapse and coagulate. The collapsed capillaries then will be removed gradually by body’s immune system.
Treatment Sensation
Sensation varies between treatments and individuals. Your comfort is monitored throughout, and treatment settings can be adjusted where appropriate.
After Treatment
Temporary redness, warmth, swelling or other expected treatment responses may occur depending on the procedure. We provide written aftercare instructions and remain available if you have questions during recovery. Where appropriate, we can also recommend handpicked cosmeceutical products to support your skin and complement your in-clinic treatment.
Results & Sessions
Treated under-eye veins may fade or disappear immediately following treatment. Often only one session is needed, although results vary and a follow-up or retouch treatment is available if required. Complimentary follow-up and review appointments are available to assess your progress and discuss whether further treatment or ongoing maintenance may be beneficial.
Who is Suitable for this Treatment?
Laser treatment may be suitable for adults with:
☑ Visible blue, purple or green veins around the eyes
☑ Suitable superficial or deeper eye-area veins
☑ Prominent veins beneath the eyes or around the temples
☑ Eye veins that have become more noticeable over time
☑ Realistic expectations about treatment and results
☑ An understanding that not all vessels or areas around the eye can be treated
Visible veins that are located on upper eyelid or too close to the eyes may not be suitable for laser treatment. Suitability is assessed individually based on the location, size and characteristics of the vessel.
Treatment may be delayed or unsuitable during pregnancy, after recent tanning, over active infection or broken skin, or where medicines or health conditions affect healing, clotting or light sensitivity. We always conduct an assessment first.
Why Choose Our Approach?
At Origin Skin, we use carefully selected medical laser devices with safe, evidenced-based treatment protocols. Our Fotona long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser precisely targets suitable under-eye veins, with treatment selected according to the location, size and characteristics of each vessel. Because not every vessel or area around the eye is suitable for treatment, we assess each client individually and provide clear, honest guidance about what can be treated, expected results and any relevant limitations or risks before you decide to proceed.
Our approach is guided by genuine care, experience and honest advice, without pressure to proceed. Treatment is tailored to the individual vessel rather than applying the same approach to everyone, and our care continues beyond the treatment appointment. Complimentary follow-up and review appointments are available so we can assess your result, answer any questions and provide a retouch treatment if needed. You can also contact our team between appointments if you have questions about your treatment or recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Peri-orbital veins are simply veins around the eyes. They commonly appear as visible blue, purple or green lines beneath the eyes, around the outer eye area or near the temples.
The skin around the eyes is naturally thin, making underlying vessels easier to see. Genetics, fair or translucent skin, ageing and individual anatomy can all influence how noticeable eye veins appear.
Fotona long-pulsed Nd laser delivers targeted energy that is absorbed by haemoglobin within the vein. This heats and closes the targeted vessel. The treated veins collapse and coagulate, then are naturally removed by immune system. This is a gradual process until the visible vein reduces or clears.
Many visible blue and purple veins around the eyes can be treated with vascular laser. Results depend on the size, depth and position of the vein, so your practitioner will first assess the area and determine which vessels are suitable.
Laser treatment can be performed around the eye area when the vein is suitable and treatment is carried out using appropriate clinical laser protocols. Because the area is delicate, careful assessment, correct treatment settings and practitioner experience are important. Your practitioner will explain the treatment and relevant precautions before proceeding.
No. Although these veins are located around the eyes, they are not connected to the eyes and are not structurally part of the eyes or vision. Rather, they drain the skin in this area. Treating suitable under-eye veins does not affect the eyes or vision.
Yes. Long-pulsed vascular lasers, including 1064 nm Nd, have been studied specifically for treating peri-orbital veins. Published clinical research has demonstrated significant clearance of suitable blue peri-orbital veins, although results and the number of sessions required vary between people.
Most people find treatment tolerable. The laser can feel briefly hot, sharp or like a small flick against the skin. We use cold air and skin cooling methods to help with comfort.
Many suitable veins respond significantly after one treatment, while some may require 2–3 sessions depending on their size, depth and response. Your practitioner will assess the vessel and explain what is realistic for you.
There is generally minimal to no downtime, and most people can return to their normal routine following treatment. Temporary redness, mild swelling or bruising can occur around the treated area, and individual recovery can vary.
Some veins visibly reduce or close during treatment, while others continue to fade as the body gradually clears the treated vessel. Your practitioner will explain what to expect based on the vein being treated.
Successfully treated veins can remain reduced or completely cleared, although treatment cannot prevent new visible veins from developing elsewhere over time. Further treatment can be considered if new vessels become noticeable.
Visible blue or purple veins can sometimes contribute to darkness beneath the eyes, but dark circles can have several different causes. Laser eye-vein treatment specifically targets suitable visible vessels. If your concern is caused by something else, an Origin Skin practitioner can assess the area and recommend a more appropriate treatment option where available.
Eye bags, puffiness, fine lines and skin laxity are different concerns from visible eye veins. Your Origin Skin practitioner can assess what is contributing to your concern and recommend a more suitable treatment pathway, which may include one of Origin Skin's dedicated eye-area rejuvenation treatments.
An in-person consultation is ideal for a full assessment and exact quote, but you can contact us before booking. We offer virtual video consultations and free preliminary guidance from photos, including an indication of treatment suitability and a rough cost estimate. This can help you understand whether treatment may be suitable before travelling to the clinic or committing to an in-person appointment.
